Church workers at CPH are committed to staying connected to their congregations and other Lutheran communities so they can help prepare resources faithful to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions, using their experiences from the Concordia universities and seminaries. “You’ll find the heart of the church worker at CPH. They love the Gospel and deeply want to help people know and share it. They also deeply love The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and its churches and schools. They stay connected so they can listen to what their colleagues with ‘boots on the ground’ are working through, enabling them to help equip those colleagues and others to face it. But God allows others to carry out some functions of that authority, establishing lesser authorities under Himself (see Rom 13:1). . . . In this way, The Lord, Who Is Always Our Keeper, Protector, and Ruler, Does Some of His Keeping through Other Authorities He Anoints. Always for our good! Final thought: never does God delegate to anyone the authority to establish what we are to believe or what’s truly right or wrong (“things eternal”). He always keeps that for Himself. Thus if any “authority” (yup, scare quotes) commands us to sin or believe in anything other than Jesus Christ, our Savior, on that subject it is no authority (even if it still has God’s authority to collect taxes). October is Church Worker Appreciation Month, and m October is Church Worker Appreciation Month, and many of our team members at CPH use their firsthand vocational experience as pastors, teachers, deaconesses, and DCEs to guide their work editing, producing, and sharing Christ-centered resources. “Over the course of my parish ministry, I had the opportunity to do a lot of writing, but that opportunity expanded greatly when I left the parish ministry and did advanced studies at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. In the eight years I was called to Lutheran Hour Ministries and now the ten years at Concordia Publishing House, I have been able to bring together my seminary training and my experiences as a parish pastor and confirmation class teacher to help enhance and sharpen the writing of pastors, commissioned church workers, seminary and university professors, and lay authors in many books, devotionals, Bible studies, and church resources.
