ST. LOUIS—Many families are looking for extended learning activities for their children during the summer. With Concordia Publishing House (CPH) ’s summer reading program, CPH Reads, kids will be challenged to dig into books and learn about Jesus’ grace. From May 31, 2023, through August 11, 2023, everyone who completes the reading challenge will be eligible for a chance to win prizes.

This program encourages children to read Christ-centered books all summer. With the newly updated program rules, readers will be able to log minutes spent reading any book. But readers are encouraged to choose CPH’s selection of books, which will help them find hope in God’s Word. Those interested in participating can register and learn more about how to log minutes by visiting

According to the Children’s Bureau of Southern California, reading every day has been proven to benefit a myriad of developmental habits in children, including improved language skills and increased concentration. While any book is eligible for earning minutes in this challenge, CPH provides participants with a list of CPH books categorized by age. Readers can also take the CPH Reads quiz to find their next book.
