Most everyone faces the wilderness of daily struggles that leave their hearts empty and aching. With author Lindsay Hausch’s new women’s Bible study, God’s Provision in a Wilderness World, readers will focus on the promises and presence of Jesus in God’s Word. The study also describes how Scripture speaks of manna, which is a reminder throughout His Word that His mercies are new every morning.

“God rained down from heaven bread that was sweet like honey on starving people,” writes Hausch. “For those people and us, God’s manna is a gift wrapped in struggle—a bittersweet blessing of God’s alien goodness kissing His people’s wounds. The example of God providing manna invites us to look at our present life—with its bittersweet beauty—and see how our Creator is blessing us with His gifts in our everyday struggles.”

When using this Bible study, readers will learn to prepare their hearts for gratitude. The study is broken into eight weeks, with five Bible studies per week, for a total of forty studies. Readers are invited to study at their own pace, either with a small group or on their own. Hausch also gives several opportunities throughout the Bible study to encourage readers to pause and engage before moving on to the next study, including “Write It on Your Heart,” “Invitation,” “Daily Bread,” and “Say Grace.”

“By thoughtfully asking meaningful questions and guiding the reader directly to Scripture, Lindsay invites us to a deeper understanding of our heavenly Father as the daily bread that we truly need most,” says Jennifer Hein, Leadership Essentials coaching & content leader at PLI. “Her relatable style of speaking as practitioner (rather than expert) made me feel like I was engaging this study with a friend on the journey.”

Praise for God’s Provision in a Wilderness World

Lindsay Hausch masterfully explains the Israelites’ struggle to grasp their new wilderness reality and helps the reader apply it to today’s world. Our modern situation often feels like a wilderness of new and unwelcome changes. It’s easy to read Exodus quickly and feel a bit superior to the complaining Israelites. Yet we, too, find ways to ignore God’s amazing presence in our lives. Lindsay’s insightful, interactive study gives us a closer look at what the Israelites were experiencing and how their broken, human reactions shine the message of God’s grace into our own lives.

God’s Provision in a Wilderness World is such a comfort for those of us going through a wilderness season. Lindsay reminds us, so gently and with such encouragement, that while there will be seasons of our life filled with doubts, unknowns, trials, and loss, God’s promise to never forsake us still rings true. God is here, walking alongside us. This study digs deep into the Israelites’ journey and helps us see how just as God provided what they needed during their time in the wilderness, He will, and does, do that for us too.

On any given day, we are acutely aware of life’s challenges. Lindsay tackles the trials we face by pointing us to God’s soul-tending grace. Her writing style flows as she provides her genuine personal perspective along with biblical stories and truths, always bringing the focus back to God’s provision, care, love, and grace. Lindsay follows that with reflection/discussion questions—and response opportunities—that allow the reader to apply God’s truth in daily life and give Him thanks. I am looking forward to journaling my way through this study, finding security and refreshment in God’s promises, and praising Him.

Whether you find yourself in a wilderness season now, emerging from one, or eager to support a loved one navigating a time of wandering in their own personal wilderness, this study is like manna for the reader’s spirit. By thoughtfully asking meaningful questions and guiding the reader directly to Scripture, Lindsay invites us to a deeper understanding of our heavenly Father as the daily bread that we truly need most. Her relatable style of speaking as practitioner (rather than expert) made me feel like I was engaging this study with a friend on the journey.
