For over fifty years, Concordia Publishing House has been providing schools, churches, and children’s homes with the joy of God’s Word with Arch® Books. Each sixteen-page book retells a part of Scripture in engaging rhyme, creating a memorable way to explore the Bible. Concordia Publishing House has just added three new books to the legendary lineup: Joshua and the Fall of Jericho, Peter Surprises Rhoda, and Jesus Christ Is Risen Today!

Joshua and the Fall of Jericho retells the story of the battle of Jericho from Numbers and Joshua. Despite the impressive wall around Jericho, God’s people defeated the city without using shovels or axes to get inside. This story teaches children that God will punish the unrighteous, but He will keep His promise to deliver those whom His Son has redeemed.

Acts 12:1–19 is retold in the Arch® Book Peter Surprises Rhoda. This is the story of Peter miraculously being released from Herod’s prison and being led out by the angel of the Lord. Afterward, Peter arrived at the house of Mary and Mark, where friends had come together to pray. He knocked on the door, and Rhoda heard his voice through the door. She was so surprised that she forgot to let him in! This book reminds children that God does indeed listen to us and answer our prayers.

Finally, the 2017 Easter Arch® Book is Jesus Christ Is Risen Today! written by Eric Bohnet. This book comes from the Easter hymn “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today,” which beautifully expresses the Gospel in simple words. Using language from all four Gospel accounts, this Arch® Book retells the story of our Lord’s resurrection and shows how it is the fulfillment of God’s promise in Genesis to save His people.
