Our story of service to the LCMS includes no confusion, no complacency and no uncertainty as to what CPH is and what it does. Our customers know they can trust that our products and services are faithful to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. CPH has held true to our mission statement and by the grace of God, will never deviate from it,” Kintz said. “I am honored to have led this organization for over 22 years.”

The Board will work closely with The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod to conduct a search for a successor dedicated to the mission of Concordia Publishing House of developing, producing, marketing, and distributing products and services that are faithful to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions and which will effectively serve such proclamation to people throughout the world, all to the Glory of God.

Jonathan D. Schultz, Vice President and Corporate Counsel, has been designated by the Board to lead CPH during this time of transition. Schultz has served at Concordia Publishing House since 1998.

Currently, Schultz serves as Vice President and Corporate Counsel of Concordia Publishing House. In this role, he works closely with the Board of Directors, coordinates all legal activities of the corporation, and directs the Human Resources and Contracts/Rights/Permissions departments. Prior to arriving at CPH in 1998, he and his wife served as volunteer missionaries in Guatemala for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

One of Schultz’s passions is Lutheran education. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis. From 2003-2014, he held various leadership positions on the Board of Directors of Christ Community Lutheran School, a Presidential Blue Ribbon School serving over 600 students and their families. Schultz also currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis, a $100 million foundation which is committed in the name of Jesus Christ to seeing the improved care of hurting people in the greater St. Louis region. In addition, from 2007-2018, Schultz served in various leadership positions on national nonprofit boards.

“We pray for God’s blessings on Dr. Kintz, his wife Kim, and family in retirement, and we give thanks for all that God has accomplished through Bruce during his leadership at Concordia Publishing House,” said Dr. Mark Bender, Chair of the CPH Board of Directors.
