The Arch® Books are back. Concordia Publishing House is adding three new books to their library: The Baby King, Jesus Visits Mary and Martha, and Jesus’ Beach Breakfast. For more than fifty years, CPH has been providing schools, churches, and homes with the joy of God’s Word through Arch® Books. Each book tells a Bible story through creative poems, making it easy for children to explore Scripture.

The Baby King retells the story of the difficult journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem. When they got there, they were only able to stay in a stable. This Arch® Book retells the story of Christmas and shows how although Jesus’ home on earth was temporary, He came to prepare a permanent home for us in heaven through His birth, death, and resurrection.

Luke 10:38–42 is retold in the Arch® Book Jesus Visits Mary and Martha. In this story, both women are excited to see Jesus. Instead of helping Martha work or prepare food, Mary listens to Jesus teach. Martha becomes upset, but Jesus is able to help her see that worrying will do no good. This story reminds us to take time out of our busy schedules to push away our worries and spend time with Jesus every day through His Word.

Last is Jesus’ Beach Breakfast. After His death and resurrection, Jesus reveals Himself to some of the disciples on a beach and watches them try to catch fish. When they are unable to catch even one fish, Jesus tells them to throw the net to the other side of the boat. When they finally realize it’s Jesus on the shore, they cook some of the fish—and Jesus asks Peter to feed His sheep. This story helps us remember that Jesus is still feeding us through His Word and Sacraments.
